Journal # 9

My novel Ophelia Speaks relates to the Coming of Age theme because it is made up of stories from a bunch of young women and teens and their experiences growing up. There are 5 parts of the book ranging from family matters, relationships, eating disorders, to school, and peer pressure. An anonymous writer who wrote " A Smooth-Talking Guy" explains how the boyfriend she had was a manipulator, and how he could talk his way out of anything. This book made me both laugh and cry, but I feel better knowing that I can relate to other girls around the world. I can only hope that I can grow up to be right in everything I do in a positive way.
